The board of TaiMet association
The board of TaiMet ry consists of passional individuals all linked to the University of Helsinki either by profession or education.

David Israel
David holds a PhD in Botany from the University of Helsinki and is our chief garden officer. In other words, he likes to get his hands dirty and is usually the one to come up with the first designs for new projects.
Plant ecophysiology was the focus of David’s academic interests, which provides a solid scientific basis for TaiMet’s more practically oriented activities. He also has a Permaculture Design Certificate and his designs are based on the permaculture philosophy of sustainability and working with nature.
Kim Yrjälä
As a docent in microbiology and soil health, Kim has the most experience when it comes to improving and maintaining soil fertility. Usually the rest of us are amazed at the knowledge he has in fields that at first sight do not seem connected with his areas of expertise.
His network reaches far and includes an inconceivable amount of further knowledge.
Kim is the Chairperson of TaiMet ry.
Peter Petros
Peter is a PhD researcher in applied fungi, currently working on mycelium materials in Helsinki. Trained as a water resource & environmental engineer, Pete is committed to nature-based economies that help enhance our soils, waterways and shift our attitudes towards restoring natural cycles in degraded areas.
Pete joined TaiMet ry as a way to channel these hopes for healthier urban futures via community-driven hands-on work: transforming “lifeless” urban spaces into high-value, biodiverse forest gardens that replenish natural living and decay processes.
Santeri Tuovila
Holds a Master's of business administration degree and is the vice chairperson of the association.
Santeri works in the University of Helsinki bringing science into practice with researchers.
In TaiMet Santeri focuses on the administrative tasks, financial sustainability of the association and volunteer engagement.
